That devious little smile in the first picture? That pretty much sums up Cora at 9 months. It is so hard for me to believe that she has officially spent more time outside the womb then in it! She is pretty devious at this stage. The more she understands the word “no” the more she resists it. Playful, is her other side. She loves peek-a-boo, being chased, doing the chasing, and mimicking us. She can roar and shake her head “no,” but can’t walk yet.
She is fearless. Sophie was such a cautious child, always testing a new boundary before attempting to surpass it. Cora just goes for it. She wants to get off the couch? She jumps off the couch. There isn’t much grace to her right now (I guess she is still growing into her namesake?) She is incredibly clumsy as she tries to move the way her older sister does.
My favorite part about this month has been watching the sister relationship blossom. They will play in the tent together, follow each other around, give hugs…. it melts a mama’s heart!
Of course, they get on each other’s nerves. Cora will mess with Sophie’s toys, or Sophie will get jealous of some thing Cora has and take it out of her hands. Some times Sophie can bee a little too affectionate. We are all navigating this new territory together. How to be a sister, how to be a mother of 2, how to be a “big kid,” we all have challenges!
They days where I feel so overwhelmed by the love for my children become more and more often. I feel like the Grinch when his heart grows 2+ sizes! I am so thankful to be Cora’s mom.
So, I thought this may be fun…. I have some predictions for Cora at the 10 month mark: I think she will have 2 more teeth and be walking! We’ll see in a month if I’m right. What do you all think?
